There are few things I love more than Halloween. October is actually my favorite month because I can finally live up to my spooky potential. Horror is one of my all-time favorite genres, so there are a few films that are on my must-watch list during the countdown to All Hallows Eve. In addition to being a horror junkie, I also adore the more family-friendly frights; this list encompasses all. Here are my top 10 must-sees that I’ll be indulging in all 31 days of October.
Vampire in Brooklyn (1995)
This movie is a classic in Black cinema, as far as I’m concerned. And it’s currently streaming on Hulu!
American Werewolf in London (1981)
The only thing I love more than sexy vampires are sexy werewolves.
30 Days of Night (2007)
Because Josh Hartnett is my forever 90s heartthrob.
The Blair Witch Project (1999)
The Blair Witch Project gives me chills just thinking about it. It gave birth “docu-horrors” like Paranormal Activity, and for that, I must pay homage every year.
Addams Family Values (1993)
Christina Ricci as Wednesday Addams is iconic. A living legend.
Halloween (1978)
Michael Meyers doesn’t scare me anymore (because he’s died a million times), but I still enjoy this slasher.
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
What’s better than a movie that’s appropriate for Halloween and Christmas?
Beetlejuice (1988)
The table number to the tune of Harry Belafonte’s song “Day-O” is a dance scene I will always cherish.
Scream (1996)
Nev Campbell at her finest. Truly.
Hocus Pocus (1993)
I’ll be watching Hocus Pocus no less than five times this month because of who I am as a person.
